Diagnostics Firm PFAS Challenge

A major multi-billion diagnostics company and S&P 500 member, operating anonymously through the Leading Edge Only open innovation platform, is seeking high-level expertise, innovative research, and novel solutions to remove or replace PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in hydrophobic thin-film and advanced materials. Any new or alternative surfaces must continue to meet high performance and durability standards. The application deadline is 11 September 2026.

Focus Areas

#

• Removal or replacement of PFAS in hydrophobic thin films and advanced materials
• Mandatory requirements: adhere to PET, no reaction with conducting polymer/PEDOT, contact angle of 110-115 degrees, no auto-fluorescence
• Desirable features: contact angle hysteresis below 10 degrees, transmission above 95%, spray-coatable, very low water absorption
